Are You And Your HVAC Speaking the Same Language?

It Can Be Tough to Know When Your HVAC Needs a Little Love

Every day, there’s so much going on. Maybe you have to pick up your kids from school, maybe you’re working a ten hour day, or maybe you’re spending time with your friends and family. No matter what you’re doing, you certainly don’t have the time to make sure that your HVAC is doing okay. The problem with that is if you’re not paying attention to your HVAC, you’re not going to be able to notice when it needs maintenance, so it can keep working for as long as possible. Do you want to make sure that your HVAC is getting the love it deserves when it needs it? Here are a few signs that you need to have a repair person come check out your air conditioning system.

1. It’s Not Cooling

One of the things that people scarcely realize until it’s already Summer is that the air conditioner simply isn’t making the house cold like it used to. You can avoid this by testing your HVAC both for heat and for cold at least once a month to make sure that both sides are still working. If you notice that it’s not working, or that it’s not working in certain rooms, you can have someone come up and take a look at it before Summer hits. Don’t get caught needing emergency air conditioner repairs in the middle of the summer, test your HVAC regularly to make sure that it’s working properly.

2. It’s Loud

If your HVAC is louder than it usually is, it means that it’s working overtime. When dust, dirt, and mold develop inside of the system, it makes it so the system has to work harder to make a room the temperature that you want it. Because it has to work harder to get the job done, the system begins to deteriorate faster. Next time you’re at home, listen to the HVAC. Is it incredibly loud? That probably means that you have to either replace the air filter, clean it, or get a repair person out to fix the job effectively. Make sure that your HVAC doesn’t have to work extra hard if you want for it to last as long as possible.

3. A Bigger Bill

If your bill is bigger than usual, but you haven’t been using more electricity, that means that something is using up that extra electricity. It could be your HVAC, as when it’s working inefficiently, it takes extra energy to do tasks that it could have done easily in the past. If you want to make sure that your HVAC is working well, and you’re noticing that your bill is ridiculously high, you should check with a repair person to see if your unit needs some maintenance help. This is one of the easiest ways that you can make sure that your bill stays in check, and you can avoid emergency repair bills. Make sure you get to the bottom of that bigger bill, and check to see if your HVAC is the culprit!
